Have we ever appreciated the beauty of the ocean? It’s vastness? The way the waves come strong yet so flawless when it reaches the shore? The beautiful sound of it’s gushes? The wonderful rhythm of the air and water? Subhan’Allāh! How amazing is our Creator.
This post is kind of personal as I will be sharing a beautiful value and teaching that my mom (Allāh yer7ama) has taught me when she was still here with us in dunya, and i pray this benefits every person who reads this and learn from it in sha Allaah, may this be a sadaqah jariya of hers.
Bismillah Ar Rahman Ar Raheem.
Since i was a child, i’ve always loved looking at the water, whatever type, ocean, sea, river, falls and the likes. I like to witness it’s movements, the waves, the way they curl up as it touches the shore, the breeze you feel as you walk down the shore, that beautiful solemn feeling that it gives you, such peace such beauty. Subhan’Allāh
Indeed, we all get to that stage in our lives that we get to feel very depressed and devastated, no matter how high or how strong we think our iman could get, there will always be a moment in our lives when we fall just because we all know that Allāh moulds us to become better through hardships and endeavors.
Whenever i get to feel this, that moment when darkness just start hovering on my head and failure start to bombard me, those moments when we feel like we have done so much in our lives that’s the moment, when we feel we need to find an escape, a portal where we would find comfort in it, those moments i have not yet met the Qur’an, i know it, but i haven’t really read it but it is through the guidance of Allāh that we find ways to find it to seek it within us.
On this very moment, my mom(Allāh yer7ama) would come to me (especially when we are in front of the ocean) and would start telling me;
"Wata ak’in ilaya ka su ragat ka mawlad, tindig ka man sa kilid u ragat ilaya ka su ragat ka da tamana’n niyan lagid anan so mayto a limo reka o Allāh. ﷻ”
(translated to english: “My child, look at the ocean, it’s vast, stand in front of the shore, look straight, the ocean looks never ending, that’s a glimpse of the Mercy of Allāh ﷻ" )
and my mom will kiss me on my forehead and tell me;
“Pangeni ka un sa rela ka prela’an ka niyan.”
(translated to english: ask and He will forgive.”)
And she will tell me;
"Nirela’an ko den seka wata ko ago pangenin ko ko Allaah a rela’an ka niyan mambo." (translated to english: I forgive you my child and I ask Allāh ﷻ to forgive you too.”)
And its been a regular habit of mine, regular habit of reminding myself that my Creator is indeed very Merciful. That’s why whenever I see bodies of water, I am reminded of His Abundant Mercy but most of all I am reminded of her kiss.
What’s beautiful is that It’s not just long ago that I’ve started studying the deen Alhamdulillah and through research and in depth understanding, learning, I’ve got to know some amazing facts that water has to do with us, Muslims, more than it purifies us everyday we also know that wudhū(ablution) extinguishes negative feelings, anger and the likes, it also defeats shaitan in the morning battle for Fâjr, so many things in connection with the water were just astonishing to know. Subhan’Allāh
To note, I’ve learned that through all these years my mom had been teaching me the beauty of Islām through her unique way, through nurturing me with the values and teachings of this beautiful religion, through always and always showing me to give mercy so i could be given mercy by the One in the Heavens.
My mom was not a scholar nor someone known to everyone, but she was a guiding light to me and to my siblings and to that I know Allāh has bestowed upon me His Mercy, through giving me the most precious gift in this dunya, to be able to have parents who are guided by His Light and Mercy. Alhamdulillah.
My mom would always pray for me, so now O Allāh, I’m the one asking forgiveness for her. May you with your Abundant Mercy Forgive her, as she has fulfilled her duties as a mother to us excellently, and that she never failed reminding us of your greatness and mercy. O Allāh, grant her Jannah and reunite us there with her among the ones with whom you most loved. Allahumma Amīn
Pls remember my mom (Umm Umayma Aqeela) in your du’ās.
and i pray that with this unforgettable dialogue or conversation i used to have with my mom would also help you in times when you feel like darkness has come upon you and your failures in this dunya succumbs your heart with regret and ungratefulness.
Remember that your Lord is Ar Rahman Ar Raheem Al Ghaffoor Al Ghaffar Al Afuww.
So ask, and He will forgive in sha Allāh, but then again ask out of repentance and with a sincere heart.
P.S. The original language is called Maranao.
